The Wait is Nearly Over

I’m beyond excited to be putting my play ‘Duty’ on at the Brighton Fringe. The actors are inhabiting their characters, they bring the script to life and make these people live. I have to say, it’s really perfect casting. Perfect. Matt Vickery brings such intensity to the character of John, it’s riveting to watch, utterly compelling. Jordan Southwell’s creation of Harry is absolutely brilliant: the perfect foil for John to butt heads with: cheeky, innocent, and so loveable. Jake Marchant is so still, calm and poised as Joe, pouring oil on the waters of their friendship with beautiful diplomacy, tact and intelligence. And between them they create this very real friendship that just feels like they have been friends forever, with their humour, their way of behaving with each other and the grounded dynamic. Sam Nixon as Mags, John’s mum, adds so much to the melting pot and gives us a huge insight into not only her relationship with her son, but in their interactions together we get to see so much more of John, and how others see him, his internal thinking, struggles and motivations. It’s quite simply a joy to watch them all work.

It’s at the Lantern Theatre, Brighton, from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 May.

Don’t miss it. Honestly, this is well worth an hour of your time.

Duty Previews at the Lantern Theatre

We are so excited to be sharing a little snippet from Duty at the Lantern Theatre Fringe Preview Evening at 7.00 on 1st May! It’s more than a snippet, it’s the first scene. We are buzzing.

We’re also looking forward to seeing what else is on offer this Fringe at the Lantern. Last year I booked shows on the strength of what I saw, and two of my favourite shows from the entire Fringe last year were on at the Lantern. Fingers crossed for this year too.

Creating the Set for Duty

Andy has been busy! He’s been sawing up a palette, and ripping up decking in our back garden. And we now have 4 crates I’m very pleased to say, to be in the “barn”, for John, Joe, Harry and Mags to sit on, when they are there.

And yes they will be sanded so they don’t give anyone splinters!

Loyalty – Brighton Fringe 2024

We’re back! Happy Fringe everyone!

We are thrilled to partner with Gin Palace Productions for our new production: “Loyalty – Lady Montague and Lady Capulet”.

What happens after ‘Romeo and Juliet’? Lady Montague waits for Lady Capulet – a long standing family rivalry hides a long forgotten friendship. What happened to them? What have they become? And is there any way through this minefield of feelings, trying to remember who they are, versus what is expected of them as wives and mothers?

A play about loyalty: to family, to your children, your partner – and most of all to yourself: what you know and feel to be right. A poignant, sometimes funny, sometimes tragic look at the lives of two women who we know so little about.

Features the magnificent Sam Nixon and the wonderful Suse Crosby.

Days at the Fringe – Meet the cast

Introducing Susanne Crosby, founder of Twilight Theatre, professional writer, director and actor to both critical and popular acclaim. Trained at A.C.T. she has won awards for both writing and directing, and is currently working on a variety of theatre and film projects. Susanne plays the single minded, intelligent yet eccentric leader of the team: Professor Stephanie Locke.

Brighton Fringe Postponed

We were due to be at the Brighton Fringe this May, but sadly the Fringe has been postponed:

We are very sad that this has had to happen but of course we fully support the decision. We firmly anticipate bringing you our wonderful new play in the Autumn when the Fringe returns.
